Trail Orienteering (Trail O) is one of the four disciplines of the sport recognised by the International Orienteering Federation. Everyone, including people with a disability, can enjoy Trail-O. The discipline has been developed over the years to offer everyone a chance to participate in a meaningful orienteering competition.
In trail orienteering, the idea is to identify on the ground control points shown on the map. As this is done from a distance, all participants compete on level terms.
The first ever World Cup in trail orienteering was held in 1999 and the inaugural World Trail Orienteering Championships were organized in 2004. The World Championships is organized every year.
